Computer Assembly - How To Assemble A PC
Install the Monitor Driver
The CD-ROM that comes with the Samsung 955DF monitor includes the monitor driver. Unfortunately, the CD-ROM did not include the version of the driver that's appropriate for Windows XP. Navigating through the Samsung web-site, I finally found the Samsung 955DF driver for Windows XP on this Samsung 955DF monitor driver for Windows XP page.
Download the driver on some other computer. Fortunately, it fits on a single floppy disk. The file is actually a self-extracting zip-archive file. Double-click on it and expand the four files inside onto the floppy disk as well. All five files will fit. The file with the ".inf" extension is the actual Samsung 955DF monitor driver, but you don't really need to know this for the install. Take the floppy disk with the monitor driver over to the new computer and place it in the floppy drive.
To install the driver, return to the Monitor tab under Display Properties. Click on the Properties button.
Click on the Driver tab.
Click on the Update Driver button.
The Hardware Update Wizard appears. Select the "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" option.
Then click on the "Next" button.
The "Hardware Update Wizard" window is asks you to "Please choose your search and installation options". Select "Search for the best driver in these locations", leave the box checked for "Search removable media" and click the "Next" button.
The "Hardware Update Wizard" access the floppy disk in the floppy drive and quickly installs the Samsung 955DF monitor driver. When it's finished, it displays this window. Click the "Finish" button.

Click the "Close" button, then the "Ok" button on the next two windows to return to the desktop.

Well, that wasn't such a chore, was it? The good news is, the monitor driver never really needs updating.
