Computer Assembly - How To Assemble A PC
Install The RAM - System Memory
The RAM - System memory consists of two sticks of Crucial PC2100 DDR memory. Here is what each stick looks like.
On the ABIT KR7A-133 motherboard, the DIMM's slots are the 4 black slots circled in blue in the lower right-hand portion of the motherboard.
The ABIT KR7A-133 motherboard has 4 DIMM slots, so I'll just be using two of them. It can't be just any two DIMM's, it has to be the first two DIMM's. Each DIMM should be labeled - something like DIMM 1, DIMM 2, DIMM 3 and DIMM 4. If you look on the right-hand-side of the enlarged picture you can actually see this labeling on the ABIT KR7A-133. Of course, the owner's manual should indicate which DIMM is first and they should proceed in order.
DIMM 1 on the ABIT KR7A-133 is the top-most DIMM in the picture. Open the latches on the slot so the DIMM can be inserted.
Insert the Crucial PC2100 memory module into the slot. The module can only be installed one way due to the way the module is "keyed" along it's bottom edge with the slot. After it's installed, the back of the module is facing the camera. I have an entire site dedicated to computer memory at Computer Memory Upgrade. Step-by-step instructions on how to install DIMM memory modules begin at Computer Memory Upgrade - DIMM Installation.
Repeating the process with the second Crucial PC2100 memory module into DIMM 2 leaves the slots populated like this.
